SWPL post-split top 6 fixtures unveiled

Screen Shot 2014-01-04 at 16.13.12As the SWPL enters it’s summer holidays, the post-split top 6 fixtures have been unveiled today at Hampden. 

First up after the summer recess will be a home clash against league leaders Glasgow City followed by a trip North to face Aberdeen.

For the second season in a row, we finish the campaign against Hibernian, this time at the Academy.

Reserves hit nifty fifty tally in win against Caley

Reserve HuddleSpartans Reserves notched up their 50th goal of their SWFL 2nd Division campaign as they came back from behind twice to secure a 2-3 victory against Edinburgh Caledonia at Heriot Watt University.

The win sees Walter McGill’s side secure 3rd spot as the league heads into it’s summer break.

Derby day despair as Andy’s handy Hutchie end unbeaten run

Mason v HutchieSpartans ended the first half of their SWPL campaign with a disappointing derby day defeat to Hutchison Vale at Saughton Enclosure.

Goals by McLaughlin and Reilly at the end of both halves were all Spartans had to show for their efforts in a game that saw the hosts utilise the counter-attack option effectively to win 4-2.

The defeat, coupled with results elsewhere, ensured the Ainslie Park side would re-start after the summer recess in 5th place.  (more…)

Spartans out to make it a magnificent seven ahead of summer split

Screen Shot 2014-01-04 at 16.13.12An Edinburgh Derby brings down the curtain on the first half of the SWPL as season heads into it’s summer recess ahead of the Top 6 split.

Debbi McCulloch’s Spartans make the short trip across the Capital to take on Hutchison Vale as the Ainslie Park side look to continue their six match winning run.

It’ll be the first outing in three weeks for Spartans due to the International break and Cowdenbeath withdrawing from last weekend’s Scottish Cup tie.   (more…)

Spartans teen trio set for Tulliallan test at National camp

Scotland logoSpartans will have a trio of top youth talent involved in the Scotland National U/16 Camp at the Scottish Police College in Tulliallan this weekend.

Ronaigh Douglas, Eartha Cummings and Shannon McNamara will represent the Club over two days where they will play a series of games between the various Regional squads under the watchful eye of Senior Women’s National Coach Anna Signeul. (more…)

Scottish Cup: Fifers forfeit & Reserves ready for trip North

logoCowdenbeath have regrettably advised that due to logistical constraints, they are unable to fulfil Sunday’s Scottish Cup 2nd Round tie against the SWPL side.

As a result, the Fifers have withdrawn from the Cup competition.

Spartans progress to the draw for Round 3 which will be made after this weekend’s games.

They may still be met in the ‘hat’ by our Reserves who travel North to take on SWPL side Inverness City Ladies.
