SWPL: Danni set for derby showdown with second place up for grabs

2O2A5227The SWPL season comes to an end this Sunday, with an Edinburgh Derby the perfect way to bring to a close one of the most exciting campaigns in the top tier’s recent history.

With the tale of the tape showing a win apiece so far this campaign, both sides will go in to today’s game looking to finish the season with the bragging rights of being crowned the ‘Queens of the Capital’. (more…)

Spartans to donate derby day gate receipts to the Jamie Skinner Foundation

skinnerSpartans Women will donate all gate receipts from their Edinburgh Derby against Hibs Ladies this Sunday at Ainslie Park in aid of The Jamie Skinner Foundation (JSF).

13 year old Jamie, a former Hearts youth player, was making his debut for Tynecastle FC against Spartans when he collapsed and died after a cardiac arrest last December.

Since then, The Edinburgh Evening News (EEN) has joined forces with Jamie’s family who set up the Foundation in a bid to get defibrillators into sports clubs across the Lothian area and ensure that staff are trained up to confidently use them. (more…)

Peers for Souvenirs? Spartans trio shortlisted by opponents for SWPL Awards

Screen Shot 2014-01-04 at 16.13.12A trio of Spartans have made the shortlist for the 2014 SWPL Awards, where players and managers are recognised by their fellow footballing friends and foes for their contribution on and off the pitch.

Manager Debbi McCulloch is the only female in the running for Manager of the Year whilst the duo of Kerry Montgomery and Sarah Ewens make up 50% of the shortlist in the Player of the Year category. (more…)

Scottish Cup Final – Supporters Bus to Broadwood Stadium

hunters_coaches_400_3Due to popular demand, we can now confirm arrangements for a Supporters bus to the SWF Scottish Cup Final on Sunday 16th of November at Broadwood Stadium (2pm kick off).

The bus will be departing the Academy at midday and returning from Broadwood Stadium at 4.30pm. (more…)

McCulloch’s managerial milestone celebrated with Scottish Cup Semi Final success

Debbi01“Debbi is a massive influence around the Club. Her commitment, her passion and her love for the Spartans brings it out in us all.”

Louise Mason was one of a handful of players and backroom staff to show their gratitude for Debbi McCulloch who took charge of the SWPL side for her 125th competitive match as Manager against Aberdeen in the 4-1 Scottish Cup Semi Final win.

It is somewhat ironic too that Debbi celebrated this occasion against Aberdeen. Her first ever game in charge was on the road to the Granite City back on the 25th April 2010, where her new charges were 3-0 winners at Lochside Park, Bridge of Don. (more…)
