Seton succumb to Cowan’s rampant Reserves

2O2A8978-1The Reserves kicked off their SWFL 2nd Division South East / West campaign at Ainslie Park in style with a 12-0 victory against Seton Ladies, writes Kayleigh McNeill.

Armed with a blend of youth and experience, Lynsey Cowan fielded a strong starting XI against the ladies from East Lothian in a bitterly cold afternoon in North Edinburgh.

Double Impact – Super Subs at the fore as Spartans hit Forfar for five

2O2A9310-1Spartans got their 2015 SWPL campaign off to a winning start with a convincing 5-0 victory over Forfar Farmington at Ainslie Park.

A double from Sarah Ewens and strikes from Louise Mason, Trisha McLaughlin and a first goal in Spartans colours for Michelle Russell gave Debbi McCulloch’s maximum points on the opening day of the season. (more…)

Cowan hopes for plenty in Reserve to see off Seton in season opener

Lindsay_Cowan_150Lynsey Cowan’s Reserves kick-off their SWFL 2nd Division South East / West campaign at Ainslie Park against Seton Ladies with Cowan keen to get an inaugural league win under her belt.

After taking over the baton from Walter McGill ahead of the 2015 season, Cowan has taken the time over pre-season to bring her side together ahead of the opening game.  She said, “I like to hope we get the season off to a positive start today against Seton Ladies, especially with us being on our home patch too. SWPL 2015: It’s kick-off time! Spartans welcome Forfar in season opener

Debbi01Spartans kick-off their SWPL 2015 campaign against Forfar Farmington this weekend and for Spartans Manager Debbi McCulloch, starting the season with a home win is vital in building foundations for a successful season ahead.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s season opener, McCulloch – last season’s SWPL Manager of the Year – is wary of the threat the Station Park side will pose and is confident her resolute defence will keep Damion Neish’s team at bay. (more…)

Harrison sets out stall for SWPL season opener against Forfar

SWPL 3Spartans No.1 Rachel Harrison was at Hampden on Wednesday as players from all 12 SWPL clubs congregated at the national stadium to launch this season’s competition.

The 2015 SWPL season kicks-off this weekend as the top dozen teams in the country jockey for a top six position ahead of the mid-season break at the end of June.

With an additional Edinburgh Derby following the promotion of Hearts to look forward to, it promises to be a fantastic season ahead for Debbi McCulloch’s side.
