Spartans were left counting the cost of being unable to turn possession into points as Celtic heading back along the M8 with a 0-3 victory for their efforts at a blustery Ainslie Park.

Spartans welcome Celtic to Ainslie Park in Round 8 of the 2015 SWPL season with both teams heading into the clash on the back of scoring seven without loss last weekend.
Despite their convincing victories last week, the sides have had an inconsistent start to the league campaign and the respective benches will be looking for three points on Sunday to close the gap at the top of the table. (more…)
It was seventh heaven for Debbi McCulloch’s Spartans in the SWPL as they defeated Inverness City 0-7 in the Capital of the Highlands.
The Scottish Cup Round 2 draw has paired Debbi McCulloch’s Spartans with Glasgow City, to be played at Ainslie Park on Sunday June 21st.
The sides met in the Final of last year’s tournament, where City gained revenge for Katie Reilly’s wonderstrike that ended the Glaswegian sides six year unbeaten domestic record in September last year at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium in the SWPL.
Debbi McCulloch’s makeshift Spartans were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against Aberdeen at Ainsle Park.
The visitors have goalkeeper Flaherty to thank for their point on the road after the shot-stopper pulled off a string of top drawer saves to keep the Spartans attack at bay.
There was a first start for recent American recruit Morgan Mitchell, whilst Scotland youngster Carla Jackson (pictured) made her way onto the home bench after her long road to recovery after injury. (more…)
Spartans will be on red alert when they face Aberdeen at Ainslie Park as the SWPL returns for Round 6 of the 2015 season.
The ladies from the Granite City will be desperate to avoid a feeling of déjà vu following their visit to the Academy last weekend when they lost out on a place in the League Cup Final after losing to Hibs.
Another rest week in the somewhat fractured early season calendar allowed Debbi McCulloch and several of her side to watch Sunday’s opponents and the Spartans Manager is remaining especially cautious ahead of another big game. (more…)
