Spartans extended their unbeaten run to four games after a hard fought 2-2 draw away to Stirling University & Falkirk Ladies in the first SWPL 1 game back after the summer recess.
Faced with a changing room that would have delighted any tomato growers in town, Suzy Shepherd delivered her pre-match team talk in the relatively more comfortable surroundings of the pitch, giving her players more time to familiarise themselves with a grass surface – something the team haven’t played on since May. It’s with tremendously mixed emotions that we announce the news that legendary Goalkeeping Coach John Ritchie is on the move from Ainslie Park to take up his new role as Goalkeeper Coach at SPFL 2 side Arbroath FC.
‘JR’ has become an institution within his three and a half years at the Club, putting a series of goalkeepers through their paces and offering direction throughout each ninety minutes and beyond.
Spartans are delighted to announce the signing of Scotland Under 19s Internationalist Sarah Clelland.
The former Rangers and Glasgow City Midfielder has joined Suzy Shepherd’s side ahead of the ‘business part’ of the SWPL 1 campaign as the squad returned to training after their short summer break.
Clelland made her Spartans debut in sensational fashion when she scored with a stunning strike against Glasgow City after coming off the bench during the side’s recent 3-0 victory.
