Dion McMahon is latest Spartans centurion

Congratulations to Dion McMahon who made her 100th senior club appearance recently against Glasgow City.   The defender, who becomes the 13th player to reach the milestone, joined the club in January 2016 and has scored a solitary goal, scored against Forfar in September 2018.

Match Report: Second half fightback means all’s well that ends Well for Spartans

In a comeback Lazarus himself would have stepped back and applauded, Debbi McCulloch’s Spartans turned around a two goal half time deficit to defeat Motherwell 2-3 at Penny Cars Stadium.
 
The result sees Spartans open up a five point gap in fourth place over fellow Edinburgh outfit Hibernian with just two games of the extended season to go. Going into the match, Spartans hadn’t lost in the SWPL to the hosts however they were staring defeat in the eye at the interval despite making most of the early running.

Spartans serve up winning return for fans in the stand

Debbi McCulloch’s Spartans returned to fourth spot in the SWPL table with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Forfar Farmington at Ainslie Park.
 
Boosted by the first opportunity to play in front of a ‘live audience’ for some time, Spartans set out their stall early on however the alert Perry raced off her line to thwart McAlonie.
 
Several attempts followed and the hosts were almost left to rue not putting them into the onion bag when Bruce’s effort whizzed past the gloves of Yates and rattled the post.

Match Report: Woodwork woes as Spartans fall to Hoops

Frustrated by the woodwork on no fewer than a hat-trick of times, Spartans headed back across the M8 following a 0-4 defeat at the hands of Celtic in the latest midweek SWPL 1 encounter.
 
Alicia Yates retained the gloves after taking over from the injured Rachel Harrison at the weekend and Becky Galbraith recovered from a nasty fall to take up her berth up top.

Gibb, Gibb, Hooray! Spartans stay in 4th spot in share of the derby spoils.

Spartans and Hibernian earned the plaudits from those watching online from the relative warmth and comfort of their sitting rooms as they played out and entertaining 1-1 in the dreich Scottish summer conditions at Ainslie Park.
 
The opening half looked as if the players were heading to the sheds on level pegging, only for Caley Gibb to have other thoughts on her mind. She collected the ball eight yards out following fine build up play by Sarah Clelland and her deflected effort wrong footed the Hibernian keeper to give her side the lead.
