Aimee Anderson is a Spartan!

The Spartans Football Club is thrilled to announce the signing of Aimee Anderson, who joins us from Hearts Women F.C. Even at 20 years old, Aimee brings a wealth of experience and talent to our SWPL squad, having previously played for Hearts Women and Celtic, where she was part of the Under-17 cup winning squad. During her time at Celtic she went on loan to Forfar Farmington and most recently before joining Spartans to Partick Thistle from January-May 2024.  One of her most memorable goals was a worldie against Hibs in an Edinburgh derby in the 22/23 season.

Aimee is known for being a speedy Attacker. We have already seen her make a great impact in important games grabbing 2 assists in her first two starts of the season.  We caught up with Aimee as she took in her new surroundings at Ainslie Park Stadium: “I’m delighted to finally sign for Spartans. I am excited about the direction the club is going in and where it wants to be. I feel right now this is the best place for me to continue my development. It is a great set up and a great group of girls. I’m now looking forward to being here on a permanent basis.”

SWPL Head Coach Jack Beesley commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Aimee to the club, a player who we’ve been keen to bring in for some time. She gives us another great option in the forward areas with her pace, 1v1 qualities and versatility. She has already gelled with the squad well and we look forward to developing her in Spartans colours this season”.

We also caught up with Aimee to ask her a few questions about joining Spartans.

For those that don’t know you can you tell us your position and your playing style?

I’m a right or left winger. I would say my playing style is very attacking. As soon as I receive the ball my first thought is to go forward. My favourite part of the game is being creative whether that be with a pass or taking players on.”

How does it feel to sign for Spartans?

It’s a nice feeling, I really like it here. It’s a good group of young girls who want to do their best for the club…I think the average age is 19, which is crazy!  The club has a real family feeling to it, everyone looking out and working hard for each other. Although we are a part time team, we are training 5 times a week along with a gym session. We are fed after training and games, and have been given tools for us to recover properly after training/games. It is a very professional environment for a part time team.”

What are your goals for the season ahead ?

“Personally my goals for the season is to be playing as much as possible and helping out the team in whatever way I can whether it be on the pitch or off the pitch. I want to become more confident and enjoy my football.”

What made you chose Spartans?

“Jack really sold the club for me and the vision they have. We had a phone call and I knew after speaking to him that we would work well together, he is very much what I feel I needed in a manager. Like I said, for a part time team, it is a very professional set up which was huge for me. The girls were great when I came in and I am loving being here with them.”
