SWPL: Spartans extend unbeaten run against Rangers

Spartans continued their undefeated start to the SWPL campaign with a 3-1 victory over Rangers at Ainslie Park.

 

Goals from Colette Cavanagh, Zoe Johnstone and Carla Boyce made it seven points out of a possible nine at the beginning of the season.

 

There was a return between the sticks for Rachel Harrison in a largely unchanged side that defeated Aberdeen 4-1 last time out. (more…)

Captain Centurion: Magic milestone moment for Marshall

Alana Marshall became part of an exclusive club last weekend when the Spartans Captain made her 100th appearance in the White and Red colours, leading her side to victory in the process on the road at Hamilton.

 

With an opening day draw up in Aberdeen together with the three points at New Douglas Park, Spartans remain undefeated in a tough start to the fixture card with a hat-trick of fixtures away from home in SWPL 1. (more…)

McConaghy installed as new Spartans Girls’ and Women’s Chairperson

Spartans Girls’ and Women will head in to the forthcoming season with a new face at the helm of the organisation.

 

Anne McConaghy was successfully returned by members as their Chairperson at the recent AGM in what has been described as a ‘significant appointment’ by the Ainslie Park club.

 

Following her election to replace outgoing chair Walter McGill, McConaghy, the former SFA Head of Strategy and Partnership for Girls’ and Women’s Football Development, said, “First of all it’s great to be part of a club like Spartans.  It’s has always been a beacon of light in terms of how the Girls and Women’s game has developed.  (more…)

Teenage Kicks! Shepherd signs up starlets ahead of SWPL season

Spartans Manager Suzy Shepherd continues to reap rewards from the investment made in the Club’s Player Pathway system by signing teenagers Tegan Reynolds & Georgia Adderley ahead of the 2017 SWPL 1 season.

 

The schoolgirl pair have been training with the senior squad over pre-season and Shepherd is delighted with the progress the two promising Spartans starlets have made. (more…)

The Annual General Meeting of the Spartans FC Women and Girl’s Section will be held within The Robertson Trust Suite, Spartans Community Football Academy, 94 Pilton Drive Edinburgh on Tuesday 7th February at 7pm.
