Spartans Reserves Coach Shaun Corrigan is hoping his side can bounce back against Hibs Development in Sunday’s League Cup clash, a week after defeat on league duty by the same opponents.
Boosted by the recent appointment of Blake Wales joining the Coaching Team, Corrigan is confident the team can take the positives out of last Sunday’s loss and build on the effort put in on the training pitch during the week.
Speaking ahead of the game, Corrigan said, “I think the most important thing we can take out of last weekend’s game against Hibs is that the girls performed consistently well over the 90 minutes. On another day, we could have seen ourselves one or maybe even two goals up, but it was a mixture of little errors and Hibs being clinical taking the chances those offered that effectively lost the game for us.“
“This weekend will be a different proposition too as we will be looking at the depth of our squad for options and there will be positional and personnel changes ahead of the game.
French goalkeeper Cephora Fopana was back between the sticks last weekend after injury sustained in the opening round against Falkirk, a game that also saw Ellie Simpson net twice at the other end.
Corrigan was pleased to see the goalie back in action, “It’s great to see Cephora pull the gloves back on so soon after her injury, she’s a trooper and back faster than she probably would have thought.
“There are a couple of plans that I have been working on to bolster the squad ahead of Sunday but whether they are signed in time remains to be seen.”
The match takes place at the Hibs Training Centre in East Mains with a 2.30pm KO.
