Spartans Women F.C. are delighted to announce the arrival of coaching guru Donald Park ahead of the new SWPL season as he joins Debbi McCulloch’s backroom staff. Warmly known, throughout the football community as ‘Parky’, Donald will take up the role of SWPL Development Coach, as we look to increase the number of weekly training sessions available to our SWPL players.
Having spent over 50 years in professional football, first as a player with Hearts, Partick Thistle, Brechin City and Meadowbank Thistle, Parky then moved into coaching and football management. His coaching CV includes management roles at Meadowbank, Arbroath, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Hearts, and a caretaker manager at Hibernian F.C.
Spartans Women Head Coach, Debbi McCulloch said: “I am really pleased that Parky has agreed to join our coaching team here at Spartans. I was fortunate enough to have Parky as my tutor on the UEFA B Licence where his appetite for the game and coaching was infectious. When we decided to increase our SWPL training sessions we wanted to recruit someone who would challenge the players but also give them in-depth technical and tactical input. From that moment on, there was only one person for the job for me, and thankfully Parky has bought into what we want to achieve.”
“Most people will be aware that Parky has volunteered at Spartans for several years now, helping out with our Under 13’s Boys. I used to walk past their pitch every Wednesday evening before heading to our own training session and you would see every player fully focused and enjoying their football. He knows the game inside out and his passion for coaching is something which will inspire our players, and also our staff.”
New Development Coach Donald Park said: “I can’t wait to join up with Debbi, the coaching staff and players. My main focus will be to support the players to be the best they can be and I’m looking forward to playing a part in our future successes.”
We look forward to welcoming Parky to the team when pre-season commences on Monday 27th of June. Stay tuned for new signings, pre-season friendly details and much much more!
