Head girl Reilly’s rally call sounded before preseason friendly opener

Katie05Spartans Women kick off their Pre-Season with a home fixture this Sunday against SWPL 1 newcomers Queen’s Park.

New signings Ciara Barnes, Natalie McMahon & Tracy Donachie look set for their first taste of football in Spartans colours, whilst Danni Pagliarulo returns to serve under Manager Debbi McCulloch for a second time.

Queen’s Park travel to Ainslie Park as last season’s SWFL 1st Division Champions and will be keen to use Sunday’s friendly as a benchmark of what’s ahead of them in the top flight.

Captain Katie Reilly (pictured left) is looking forward to leading her team into an exciting 2014 season. “Training has been gathering pace and we’ve been building up a really good tempo over the last couple of weeks and everyone’s returned after the festive break looking pretty sharp.”

Sunday’s opponents will provide a tough test, one that Reilly is looking forward to the game, “Queen’s Park are clearly a useful team having secured promotion from what is now a very competitive SWFL, so they’ll be a good test for us in our first game.”

Katie has been impressed by the impact the new signings have made since signing during the close-season. She said, “The new girls that have come in have done really well so far and it’s certainly looking like we’re going to have a stronger team than we had last year and having Danni Pag (Midfielder Danni Pagliarulo) return to the Club is a great bonus for us.”

The match kicks off at 1pm. Entry is FREE.

Season tickets will also be on sale at the gate – Adults £40, Under 15s FREE. Remember, buy your Season Ticket early to maximise on your Match Day savings!
