Mike Ross graduated from Northumbria University, Newcastle, with a BA (Hons) in Sport Development and Coaching.

Mike holds the UEFA A license which he passed in 2013. He also has also completed his UEFA B, Level 2, Level 1 and the new Youth Module 2 with the English FA.

Having lived in the USA for several years, he also holds the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) B license and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top coaching qualification, The Master Coach Diploma, completed in 2011. This was a 2 year programme based on the UEFA Pro License which included visits to Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton Training Academies studying the 1st team and youth set ups.

Mike has also coached at the Women’s Regional Performance Academy for the Scottish FA in the South East Region where he delivered individual technical sessions for elite players involved at National and Regional level within the women’s game in Scotland.

Working with the Scottish FA allowed Mike to travel to Sweden and Northern Ireland with the U17 Women’s National Squad and he has also performed scouting assignments for the Women’s National A Squad visiting countries like Norway for Euro 2013 qualifying matches. He has also been fortunate enough to travel on UEFA study group trips to Switzerland, Cyprus and Sweden for Euro 2013.

Mike is also currently the Manager and Head Coach of Edinburgh University Women’s 1st team. He oversees the Women’s programme at the University and has held this role for 3 years. He has helped the growth of the club from 1 competitive team to 3 teams and in 2013-2014 coached the 1st team as they won Scotland’s top University league, Division 1.

He has previous coaching experience in the UK with Northumbria Women’s University Team, Newcastle United Development School and in America with Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs Chicago Fire Youth Development and 5 years working at the New York Red Bulls.
