Spartans Women are delighted to announce the signing of Mya Bates from Glasgow City F.C. The exciting young winger has penned a one year deal ahead of the new SWPL 1 campaign. As Manager Debbi McCulloch continues to build a competitive squad for the league starting in early August, Bates will bring pace and creativeness to our attacking options.

Speaking to Spartans FC Women, Bates said:

“This is a really good and exciting opportunity for me to progress as a player in the SWPL 1. I spoke with Debbi in great depth and have been so impressed by what the club has to offer and the fantastic facilities Spartans have on offer. It’s amazing and has a great atmosphere.”

“My goals for the forthcoming season are to become a regular starter for Spartans, but I also appreciate how big an achievement it is for myself to sign for a club like Spartans. I’m 100% committed to developing my game and looking forward to the forthcoming season.”

Bates is Manager McCulloch’s second pre-season signing as we look to continue to strengthen the current squad. McCulloch said: “Mya is a player who we have admired for some time now. We had been keeping a close eye on Mya’s development when she was playing either against us in the SWPL 1 or with Glasgow City’s National Performance League U19’s. It was clear to us then that she had the ability to progress to the next level.”
