Spartans Manager Debbi McCulloch has added a ‘fantastic potential and talent’ in Natasha McMahon to her squad ahead of the SWPL season.
McMahon, 19, has moved across the Capital from Hutchison Vale and is the latest pre-season signing that will form the nucleus of McCulloch’s plans for the forthcoming campaign.
Speaking after putting pen to paper at the Academy on Friday evening (17th), McMahon said, “I wanted to develop my football further and look for a new opportunity and joining Spartans is a great way to do that. Having visited here as a player, I know that it is a fantastic club with the facilities to match.
Looking ahead to the season kicking off in March, the defender added, “My immediate goals are to ensure we gain a post-split Top 6 spot and for me to have the opportunity to play competitive football.”
“I have respected Natasha as a player for a few years now so I’m delighted we have managed to secure her services for the season ahead. I worked with Natasha at the SFA Regional Academy a couple of years ago where she showed fantastic potential and talent.Twice capped at U/19 level in 2012, McMahon is an exciting prospect in Scottish Women’s Football and McCulloch is delighted to finally land her latest signing.
“I’ve kept tabs on Natasha’s development and we approached her last pre-season but she was happy and loyal at Hutchison Vale which we fully respected. Natasha is an attacking full back with a great range of passing ability and I look forward to working with her for the foreseeable future.”
Natasha is one of a quartet of sisters who’ve featured in the National age-grade set-up and their Father’s cousin, Darren Fletcher, has been a mainstay in the Men’s National side since 2003.
