Robyn McCafferty signs contract extension

Spartans are today delighted to confirm that Robyn McCafferty has signed a new deal at the club.

A top young talent, Robyn first signed for the club from Hibernian Under-19 Performance Team in December 2018. At that time, Robyn was the captain of Scotland Under-17s, the centre back then went on to play for Scotland Under-19s where she also captained her country.

Robyn quickly became a key feature in Debbi McCulloch’s side, this meant the youngster would mark a key milestone for the club aged just 19. McCafferty marked her 100th appearance for the side where she captained the team to a 2-0 victory midweek over Glasgow Women.

One of the most exciting young prospects, Robyn was Player of the Year runner-up for the club in the 21/22 season after playing every game. More recently in season 22/23, the centre back has been a key player in some pivotal moments winning her Coaches Player of the Year to end this season. Robyn scored a penalty to help the team progress past Hearts in the Sky Sports Cup, then stepping up to take the winning penalty against Celtic to knock out the defending champions in the Quarter-Final.

Robyn helped the team end the season on a high, the squad ending with a 10 game unbeaten run, winning on nine of those occasions. The centre back even showed off her finishing skills, scoring an outrageous strike from distance in a 4-2 win over Dundee United.

On signing a new deal with the club, Robyn said:
“I’m delighted to be extending my contract with Spartans. Everyone who knows me knows how much this club means to me. It’s an exciting time for the club at the moment so it’s really special for me to be a part of it.

We finished the season off really well, and there is a special atmosphere between this group of players in the dressing room, so I’m looking forward to getting straight back into that and building on this next season”
