Spartans Women F.C. are in safe hands for the forthcoming SWPL 1 season with GK Rachel Harrison signing a one year semi-pro contract with the club. With the highest number of competitive appearances of any Spartans Women F.C. player (196 in total), Harrison adds further invaluable experience to Debbi McCulloch’s side.
Harrison commented: “After 10 amazing seasons at the club, I am really grateful to be given the opportunity to sign a semi-pro contract at Spartans. It’s a really exciting time for the club as we look to build from what has been a challenging 18 months for everyone. I am delighted to be able to continue to play my part in trying to bring more success to the club.”
Looking ahead to the forthcoming season, Harrison said: “I am really looking forward to the new season. We have a great team and strong foundations to build on for the year ahead. We want to be challenging at the top of the table with the club striving to improve and develop the squad to allow us to be more competitive than ever before.”
Manager Debbi McCulloch had the following to say about capturing Harrison’s signature: “Rachel has been an important part of the club for over a decade now so it is fantastic to have someone with her pedigree commit their future to the club. Additionally, it has been great to see Rachel develop her coaching skills off the park by undertaking her SFA GK and UEFA B Licence. Having female role models at the club, which younger players can look up to, has always been personally important to myself and the club.”
