Spartans FC are delighted to announce the loan signing of defender Summer Laird from Rangers FC.
Summer joins the club after climbing the ranks of the Rangers Academy, where the promising young player won plenty silverware through the age grades. The defender made her debut for the Rangers first team in preseason in an 8-0 win over Queens Park in the Glasgow Cup which Rangers then went on to retain.
Laird’s performances have earned her international recognition as the youngster has racked up eight caps at Scotland U17 level, becoming a regular feature in the international set up.
McCulloch stated her excitement at securing Summer’s services on a loan basis:
“Summer has been training with us for a while now so we delighted to formally welcome her to the team. On the pitch, Summer has great technical ability and reads the game extremely well. As a young player, who is extremely ambitious, I have no doubt she will fit in well and have a positive impact on our squad on and off the pitch”
Summer spoke of her eagerness to get going upon linking up with the squad:
“I’m really looking forward to getting started, I think I’ll learn a lot from the players here and hopefully develop both as a player and a person. Everyone has been really welcoming and I’ve settled in well.”
Our new addition has linked up with the team and goes straight into the match day squad for tomorrow’s Sky Sports Cup clash with Partick Thistle. Welcome to Spartans, Summer!
