Super Sunday for five-star U11s

13saAll three U11 squads (Reds, Blues and Greens) were in action today with our soon-to-be-U13s hosting Broxburn, the Blues visiting Falkirk Girls and the Greens attending an indoor 5v5 tournament playing three matches, writes Coach Zsolt Jakri.

The girls delivered a fantastic performance with five wins out of five games!

The Reds dominated their game against a strong opposition. Broxburn had an excellent goalie performance and Spartans wasted a number of great chances. However, Ruby scored a double, Gemima added one more and Caitlin hit the back of the net for the Reds (today’s team: Caitlin, Chelsea, Ruby, Rona, Emily, Gemima, Kimberley, Lulu, Molly, Amber) to finish the game and the U11 League with a 4:1 win – and it could have been a lot more with a bit of composure in front of the goal. A few friendlies are coming up to complete the season and preparations will begin for the exciting life at U13 level – good luck girls!

The Blues had a game re-arranged at the very last minute, that saw them playing at the main stadium pitch at Falkirk’s home ground –a great experience! Falkirk Girls fielded three over-age girls from their U13 squad, but there was no stopping of the hard-working Spartans team. Marie kept a brilliant clean sheet in the first two 15 minutes and Freya pulled out a couple saves at the last 15 to allow our regular goalie to play in midfield.

Natasha, Rosie, Isla, Amy and Kianna (strong contender for Player of the Match) worked their socks off against a physically strong Falkirk team and early in the second half a brilliant Spartans team move saw Freya providing a great assist for Dora to score with a lovely finish. Legs were tiring, but the girls kept going and came away with a 1:0 win

The Greens’ tournament could not have gone any better either. The list of opposing teams was impressive with North Berwick, Cockenzie, Boroughmuir and Blackhall also in attendance. Due to the draw, Spartans played three games. All the girls were fantastic, showing great enthusiasm and teamwork and most of all they really enjoyed their morning.

They conceded only one goal and scored 14 over the three games. It was a fantastic opportunity to prepare for what lies ahead: transition into 7v7 and taking part in the U11 league next season – the coaches cannot wait for the Greens to show off their skills!
