Spartans travelled to Dundee to face Dundee United after the international break as we returned to SWPL action.
Spartans had a lot early pressure as Bates does well to win a corner but Dundee United were able to clear. Reynolds was next to create for Spartans, she drilled the ball across the face of the box but the defence dealt with it well. Moments later Clelland looked to send Smart through on goal but the pass was just too heavy. Clelland then played Jordan through on goal but her deflected effort was well saved.
The best chance of the game so far then fell to Galbraith, her cross across the face of goal took a Dundee United touch and the ball bounced out for a corner. Jordan then had a powerful effort fall just wide of the post. Galbraith and Jordan would link up to go close again for the visitors. Galbraith getting around McNicoll in the Dundee United goal, her cut back found Jordan but the defence was back well to block her effort off the line.
Spartans relentless pressure would then pay off, Becky Galbraith’s cross is palmed away by McNicoll but no further than Alana Marshall who tapped home.
The second half would start with no clear cut chances, Spartans getting forward well but not too much to test McNicoll in the Dundee United goal.
Harkins would then equalise for the hosts. Her long effort tipped by Harrison but too much power on the shot and it fell into the back of the net.
Dundee United would build on their equaliser. Growing into the game more and more and putting more pressure on the Spartans back line. The winning goal would come for the hosts in the 91st minute, Danni McGinley’s effort finding the back of the net to give the Dundee United side the three points.
