SWPL | One last push before split

Spartans travel to Oriam hoping for a crucial three points in order to keep top six hopes alive, knowing no less than the victory and results elsewhere going the teams way will be enough to lock in a top half finish.

In order for Debbi McCulloch’s side to achieve a finish in the top six, Spartans must win, with Partick Thistle and Motherwell both losing. If Motherwell draw and Thistle draw, Spartans will still finish top six with a win. Finally, if Partick Thistle and Motherwell both draw on Sunday, Spartans will finish top six but only if the side win by four goals.

Spartans will take plenty confidence to Oriam, having never been beaten by Hearts. When the two sides met earlier this season, Spartans defeated Eva Olid’s Jambos 2-1 at Ainslie Park.

Last week, Spartans suffered a narrow loss in what was a battling performance against Rangers, the defending champions eventually finding a breakthrough to see the game finish 1-0. Meanwhile, Hearts played out a 3-0 win over Glasgow Women at Oriam. Eva Olid’s side thriving off the back of a Capital Cup penalty shootout win.

With all games on Sunday kicking off at 4.10pm, it’s sure to be a grandstand finish before the split. Get behind Spartans to cheer them on all the way, ticket information is available via Hearts.
