Spartans welcomed Celtic to a very wet and windy Ainslie Park in midweek SWPL action.
Mason had an early opportunity to test Tajonar in the Celtic goal, the winger turned and shot from the edge of the box but the Celtic ‘keeper was equal to it.
Hayes was next to try her luck. Her effort coming as a result of the first corner of the game but it was wide of the mark. Gallagher was next to test Harrison but the Spartans keeper gathers from her shot.
Spartans had a good chance to open proceedings just before the half time mark. Marshall fired a free kick wide of Tajonar’s post. That would be the last action of the first half as a lively first 45 was brought to a close.
It was the visitors however who started the second half with a bang. Substitute Jacynta hit a first time effort low past Harrison in the Spartans goal.
Harrison could only bequeath the ball from Menglu shot’s, leaving Fergusson to tap home Celtic’s second of the evening.
The third would come just moments later, Celtic retrieving the ball high up the park, the cut back turned into the back of the net.
Celtic had the better of the chances as the rest of the game played out. The best of the chances coming from Jacynta but Harrison produced a top save to keep the striker from getting her second of the evening.
No more goals to report at Ainslie Park as a spirited display from the Spartans side not to be on the night.
