Spartans FC are delighted to announce the signing of talented young centre back Tegan Browning.
Tegan becomes our first summer signing, joining the club after a spell overseas in the USA playing college football with the Incarnate Word Cardinals in the Southland Conference in NCAA Division 1. The defender made 16 appearances in her spell abroad as she balanced football with her studies.
Back in her homeland of Scotland, Tegan has played for fellow Edinburgh sides Boroughmuir Thistle, Hearts and also featured at an International level for Scotland U19’s . Tegan is no stranger to SWPL football, having made 32 appearances with Hearts during the 21/22 season.
On joining the team, Tegan said:
“Spartans really appealed to me for a number of reasons; this is a strong, established and ambitious SWPL1 side and obviously had a very good end to last season. Spartans has also always struck me as a friendly and welcoming club and there’s such a strong togetherness in the squad. All the work that Spartans does in the local community is evident and I’m proud to join a club with such strong ties to the local community.”
“Personally I’m looking to become a regular starter in the team and continue to develop as a player both on and off the pitch. Collectively we want to finish the league as high as possible and target really strong cup runs. I am really excited to meet up with the squad, I know a few of the girls already so I’m sure that will help me settle in, I can’t wait!”
Head Coach, Debbi McCulloch was full of praise for Spartans first summer addition, stating:
“Tegan is a player we have admired for some time so I’m delighted to welcome her to the Spartans Family. Her technical ability and understanding of the game will strengthen our team and provide further competition within the squad. Tegan has a bright future ahead of her and it’s great to have her back in the SWPL after spending last year stateside.”
