Tis the season to B jolly! Spartans duo in UEFA Licence course success

debandnicSpartans are celebrating further success this weekend with the news that Coaching duo Debbi McCulloch and Nichola Sturrock have both passed their SFA UEFA B Licence course.

The pair set out on their journey in February at Toryglen and under the watchful eye of Donald Park, the SFA’s Head Coach of Education, their time, energy, effort and dedication has certainly paid off.

It’s been a fantastic few weeks for McCulloch who adds this latest string to her bow to the SWPL Manager of the Year award received at the end of November.

The Spartans supremo said, “It’s been a long journey, but very worthwhile.  As a coach, I’m always learning.  When I applied to go on the course, I knew this was a good opportunity to further develop my coaching knowledge.  It’s always good to learn from other coaches too and I believe that I have benefited from this along the way.

“I’ve got a clear coaching philosophy that I’ve been trying to develop over the last four or five years with this team and I look forward to taking what I have learnt from the B Licence experience and transferring it onto the training pitch with the team next season.  I’d also like to thank all those who have assisted and supported me along the way.”

For 22 year old Sturrock, the Under 17s Coach was delighted at receiving the news.

“I’d just like to thank everyone who contributed to my development and success on the course.  The support from the Spartans family has been fantastic over the last 10 months or so and it’s been great working alongside Debbi who has helped me throughout the year.

“Working with the Under 17s has been a brilliant experience and thoroughly enjoyable.  To have such supportive fellow coaches in John Douglas and Louis Douglas makes you glad to be part of such a fantastic club.  Roll on next season!”
