Todd Steps Up

Spartans Manager Debbi McCulloch is set to reap further rewards from the investment made in the Club’s Player Pathway system by promoting Shannon Todd, from the clubs Development Team, ahead of the second half of the 2019 SWPL 1 season.

Shannon already has four SWPL 1 appearances to her name and has been training with the SWPL squad over the past couple of months and McCulloch is delighted with the progress Shannon has made.

Speaking of her call-up to the Women’s squad, winger Shannon Todd said, “I’m excited to making the progression from the Development Squad to the SWPL. I feel like I’ve came a long way since signing for Spartans and I’m looking forward to working hard with Debbi, and my new teammates, as we look to prepare for the second half of the season.”

The 24-year-old joined the club in 2017 and has already enjoyed two successful summer seasons within the Development Team setup. Shannon’s previous clubs include Hutchison Vale, Hibernian, Celtic and Partick Thistle.

Manager Debbi McCulloch added, “It’s great to see another player come through the Spartans ranks. Alfie, Mikey and Gary do an excellent job in developing players and it’s a credit to them, along with Shannon’s hard work, that this opportunity has been given to Shannon”.

“The player pathway is really important to a club like Spartans as it embraces organic growth. We want our players to stay here and to ensure there are teams throughout the structure for them to progress within the age groups then onto adult football.”

“Shannon is a well-respected player within Spartans and has already proven the quality she will bring to our existing squad by coming off the bench and doing extremely well against Celtic and Stirling University in the first half of the season”.
