Sunday saw the Under 13s Whites travel to East Lothian to play a friendly against Haddington athletic, writes Alan Woodrow
A very close and hard fought first half saw Spartans 2-1 up at the break. A fine strike from Jessica and a debut goal from Charlotte gave us a deserved lead. However, Haddington were causing us problems with their neat passing and a few good saves from Eva were needed throughout the half.
A quick equaliser from Haddington seem to spark the Spartans girls into life. A fine strike from Ellie Le Sueur and additional goals from Jessica, Ellie Venters (2) and Ellie Le Sueur again seen Spartans over the line with a 7-2 score that flattered us.
Great contributions from the goal scorers but mentions have to go to the others. Eva and Tilly for their 30 minutes each in goals and composed play outfield. Niamh for her ever willing running and playing 3 different positions in the game. Melissa for her composure on the ball and Christy for her terrific play down the right flank.
Now we focus on our League Cup Quarter Final against a very good Penicuik Athletic team. Exciting challenges ahead for the girls.
Special thanks to Haddington for hosting us today, and a lovely touch from one of the Haddington girls offering our girls some half time Haribos. Good luck to Haddington for the rest of the season.
